A Weekend at Pranjetto Hills

Pranjetto Hills is one of the very few resorts that are only a few hours away from Manila, offering a serene and relaxing leisure complex set upon the rolling hills of Tanay, Rizal. The resort, perhaps one of the best well-kept secrets in Tanay, is set in a simple, yet captivating location, sitting atop a hill, hence the name.

It features a carefully manicured landscape, highlighted by an Olympic-sized swimming pool, dotted by neatly arranged cottages nestled in lush carpet of green and surrounded by trees.

It is difficult to believe that the resort is actually located along the highway, and is a few minutes away from Camp Capinpin, one of the most important training facilities and camps of the military.

Small quaint towns, a camping ground here and there, and the famous military training camp, are all neighbors of Pranjetto Hills.

Pranjetto Hills is ideal for that intimate family gathering, or for that short but rewarding two-day vacation away from the metro.

Getting There

About two hours away from the city, weekend road trippers will find Pranjetto an excellent alternative to more popular spots such as Tagaytay and Batangas in the far south, or Bulacan up north.

The best way to really enjoy the trip is to go for the direct route instead of using the Antipolo-Tanay road.

It might be a long, straight drive, if you’re traversing the road going to Tanay via Marikina. Instead of turning right at the intersection going up to Antipolo, you can just go straight.

An early morning trip is highly recommended in going to Pranjetto, not only to avoid traffic but to actually enjoy the sight and sounds of the numerous small towns, and “palengkes” along the way.

The road will take a radical makeover once you’ve reached Tanay road. The local government and developers have made sure the roads are free of potholes good and well-maintained.

Drive past hills covered with grass, gated farms, and an occasional farmer carrying fruits around produce, which are surely bound for the market.

It may sound cliché, but it is best for you to turn off the air con, pull down the windows and smell the fresh air along the countryside.

This route is also becoming popular for bikers, being somewhat isolated and still free from smoke-belching buses, or imposing ten-wheeler trucks.

As you get near Tanay, you will notice a few resort complexes and housing projects found along the way, affirming that Tanay is slowly becoming a major destination for tourists and weekenders.

But for now, Tanay still retains almost all of its rustic beauty.

Cottages with a nice view

Pranjetto situated within the lush hills of TanayNot very large, but not very small, Pranjetto Hills has only a handful of cottages, that each can accommodate either a family of 4 or 6, depending on the size. The cottages however are graciously designed, and will actually fit in 2 families or about 6 persons comfortably.

The view from the room presents rolling hills from one side, and a carefully maintained “rainforest” on the other side. The cottages are relatively new, and according to the staff, are strictly maintained for cleanliness.

And the grounds at Pranjetto are spotless. There’s even a viewing deck that offers vacationers a better glimpse of the surrounding hills and clutches of forests. Children are not left out, as the resort also has a simple play area and a few “swings” than can easily fit in 6 giggling kids.

Again, it is quite difficult to imagine that this road is a mere hour away from the bustling city.

So pack your bags and make that reservation. Pranjetto Hills is waiting for you.
