A Pilipinas.ph staff was present during the recent Panagbenga Baguio Flower Festival in the City of Pines. And what’s a trip to Baguio City without a visit to the famous La Trinidad Strawberry Farm, which, incidentally will celebrate the 6th Strawberry Festival this month of March.
La Trinidad is a must see destination in Benguet, about 15 -20 minutes jeepney or taxi drive from the city proper. This destination hosts the yearly Strawberry Festival where the world record breaking “Biggest Strawberry Shortcake” can be found.
La Trinidad is the primary producer of strawberries, not only in the Cordillera region. Visitors get to choose and pick the strawberries right out of the fields.
About 77 hectares of land here are devoted to strawberry plantation, with an average production volume of about 21 tons per hectare.
La Trinidad is now busy preparing for the staging of its Strawberry Festival where President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is expected to grace the activity, which is among the crowd-drawing activities in Cordillera.
