Silangang Nayon Park Restaurant at Pagbilao, Quezon

November 22nd, 2007 by Gerry D

Silangang Nayon Park & Restaurant is tucked inside the town of Pagbilao in Quezon province. Located about 8 kilometers away from the main road, the winding road that leads to Silangang Nayon intrigues a first time visitor as to what possible gem of a destination could be waiting at the end of this seemingly remote location. Finally, the Silangang Nayon Park and Restaurant revealed itself – a grand yet relaxed destination based on native and nature themes – serving fresh food, fresh country breeze, and fantastic sights.

Silangang Nayon is first and foremost a restaurant serving native Philippine dishes as well as Chinese dishes (dimsum, peking duck) popular to Filipinos.

Not just Philippine food, DIMSUM and PEKING DUCK are also served.

For breakfast, the choices were daing na bangus, sausage and spam . For lunch, we enjoyed scallops, oysters (kinilaw and grilled), spicy ribs, beef broccoli, a fantastic soup and fried chicken for the kids. For refreshment, we had fresh buko (coconut) juice in the shell. To round it out, we were served with a fruit salad that had coconut, pineapple, cherries, grapes and corn bits. It was a great experience to have breakfast, lunch and dinner at Silangang Nayon Park & Restaurant – their staff were very courteous, the presentation of the food was very professional, clean silvers and real china. Not to mention the VIEW!

Reallyy FRESH OYSTERS – have em grilled or kilawin (cooked in vinegar)

Silangang Nayon is ensconced in Pagbilao Bay. It’s a bay, thus there were no beaches to frolic on coz the parts were deep. But Silangang Nayon used the cliff and deep bay to their advantage, from the bay Silangang Nayon Park is a fantastic view – and from the shore, the huts on the water is an exciting invitation.

There are lots of individual nipa/bamboo huts where diners can stay and enjoy their food. There are small huts to very large huts that can accommodate parties of 30+ people. There are huts along the edges of cliffs, there are even huts on the water! The huts on the bay were quite exciting, imagine diners will have to traverse the wooden (bamboo) footbridge before they can reach their meals. No worries though as the footbridge were very very secure even against the occasional strong breeze.

Apart from the native huts, Silangang Nayon Park’s vast area also includes a playground for children, an animal shelter, an ostrich farm and even hotel rooms and accommodations.

Silangang Nayon’s hotel rooms and accommodations are housed in a standalone building offering 4 rooms. The design is simple, homey – as if you were in your own house. These hotel rooms offer the basic amenities of bed, shower and bath (with tub), cable tv and air condition. The rooms are clean, well lit and complete with sundries from clean towels, shampoo, toothpaste to toothbrush. This helps the weary traveler to quick ease into relaxation after the long drive leading to Pagbilao.

Where’s lunch? It’s on the water! Gotta go through those footbridges before you can eat. What a torture but DELECTABLE REWARDS await.

Pagbilao town is 30 minutes away from Lucena City. We did not see much of Pagbilao but apparently it is a 1st class municipality. The Pagbilao Power Plant is noted to be the largest power plant stations (Wikipedia) in the country – true enough, at night – the Pagbilao power plant against the dark black sky evoked a sci-fi scene not unlike those shown on X-files and similar movies.
