If you have a good memory, you will remember the initial buzz concerning the opening of Splash Island Resort in 2005. After just a few weeks of publicity, it seemed like everybody wanted to go Southwoods Ecocentrum in Biñan, Laguna to experience the newly opened water park. You remember this commercial?
Yeah, I think we [...]

There is no denying it — summer has hit downtown Manila. It rekindles our old friendships with air-conditioned rooms, swimming pools and beaches. Are you ready for a trip — a real out-of-town TRIP for your body mind and senses?
Right about this time last year, my good friend and blogger Ailene Ponce and a [...]

Pilipinas.PH’s resident wanderer and photo-guy Gerry D went off to invade Southern Luzon just recently, camera and loving wife in tow. These gorgeous shots of Lake Sampalok in San Pablo City, Laguna just reminds me that I haven’t traveled the outskirts of Manila in a while. Maybe that ought to change soon for the Philippines outside of the metro is just beautiful.

If you haven’t been gallivanting around Laguna, this Laguna native strongly encourages you to do so. We all know about Los Baños/Calamba and the hot springs. But there is so much more to Laguna than just being the default family outing destination during summer or Holy Week. Take Liliw, for example. It is an absolutely wonderful place to go to, especially if you’re the type to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. Let Pilipinas.ph convince you about Liliw, Laguna.

Silangang Nayon Park & Restaurant is a tucked inside the town of Pagbilao in Quezon province. Located about 8 kilometers away from the main road, the winding road that leads to Silangang Nayon intrigues a first time visitor as to what possible gem of a destination could be waiting at the end of this seemingly remote location. Finally, the Silangang Nayon Park and Restaurant revealed itself - a grand yet relaxed destination based on native and nature themes - serving fresh food, fresh country breeze, and fantastic sights.
Pagbilao town is 30 minutes away from Lucena City. We did not see much of Pagbilao but apparently it is a 1st class municipality. The Pagbilao Power Plant is noted to be the largest power plant stations (Wikipedia) in the country - true enough, at night - the Pagbilao power plant against the dark black sky evoked a sci-fi scene not unlike those shown on X-files and similar movies.

Not that kind of virginity, haha. I thought I’d just make this a typical blog post since don’t know how to write tourist-y articles anyway.
I was a Boracay virgin, one of the millions of Filipinos and Filipinas who haven’t been to Boracay yet. So, I decided enough of the Boracay virginity and give in to the temptation – finally, after all these years of trying and waiting - there I was basking on the famed powdery white sand of Boracay island’s White Beach. From the moment I stepped out to the shore – it took just one glimpse at the picturesque seascape to understand why Boracay is such a fabled and beloved destination for lots of people around the world.

The Philippine Military Academy found a home in Baguio City, where flower power is at bloom and no PMA student could ever think of wars and destructions in such a restful place.
Aside from tanks, helicopters, and military planes, the whole camp is abundant with hundreds of flower species. In fact, it has more fresh flowers in natural setting than in the Baguio City proper.
The PMA has been the center of hot news issues, especially in times of rebellion within the Philippine military ranks…

A Pilipinas.ph staff was present during the recent Panagbenga Baguio Flower Festival in the City of Pines. And what’s a trip to Baguio City without a visit to the famous La Trinidad Strawberry Farm, which, incidentally will celebrate the 6th Strawberry Festival this month of March.
La Trinidad is a must see destination in Benguet, about 15 -20 minutes jeepney or taxi drive from the city proper. This destination hosts the yearly Strawberry Festival where the world record breaking “Biggest Strawberry Shortcake” can be found.
